A selection of completed and ongoing projects — from PCB redesigns to complete IoT solutions.

VanMoof S3 improved e-shifter PCBA

Completed
PCB design Hardware Reverse engineering

The original electronic gear-shift unit of the VanMoof S3 has well-known reliability issues. This project is a fully redesigned PCBA: better component selection, improved thermal dissipation, a more compact layout, and a direct drop-in replacement for the original unit.

  • Reverse engineering of the original PCB
  • Schematic capture in KiCad
  • New component selection (improved MOSFETs, better capacitors)
  • Optimised PCB layout for thermal behaviour
  • Drop-in replacement — no firmware changes required
  • Manufactured and tested as a working prototype

Notestrainer — sight-reading practice

Completed
Mobile app Flutter Music education

A native practice app for sight-reading music notation. Four adjustable parameters — level, key signature, tempo and instrument sound — make every exercise adapt instantly to the player, with live staff and keyboard display.

  • Native iOS and Android app built with Flutter
  • Adjustable difficulty: from whole notes to syncopation and sixteenth notes
  • All major and minor keys with correct key signatures
  • Built-in count-in metronome for landing exactly on tempo
  • Recorded instrument sounds: piano, guitar, organ, recorder

Vaarmeldingen — real-time waterway alerts

Completed
Web app Mobile app Next.js Firebase

A platform where boaters share real-time reports of closed locks, obstacles, and police or municipal boats on Dutch waterways. Available as a website and as a native iOS/Android app.

  • Web application built with Next.js and React
  • Native iOS and Android app via Capacitor, with push notifications
  • Real-time data storage and sync with Firebase
  • User-generated reports, instantly visible to other boaters

Notiswitch — smart washing machine notifier

In development
IoT Firmware PCB design Mobile app

A smart plug that monitors a washing machine or dryer's power consumption, automatically detects the start and end of a cycle, and sends a push notification the moment the laundry is done.

  • Firmware in C on Zephyr RTOS for ESP32-based hardware (Sonoff S60)
  • Energy monitoring to detect cycle start and end
  • Cloud backend on Firebase (Cloud Functions, Firestore, FCM)
  • React Native app (iOS/Android) with live device status and event history
  • Currently in development

More projects coming soon.
